The organisation’s leadership reflects a strong blend of international exposure, technical competence, and deep grassroots engagement.
Dr. med. Edmond A-iyeh, MPH
Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Edmond A-iyeh is a Resident Urologist in Germany and a global health advocate committed to strengthening health systems and expanding access to quality care in underserved communities. His clinical and public health expertise anchors EGD’s health-focused programming and international partnerships.
He holds a medical degree from the University for Development Studies (Ghana) and a Master of Public Health from Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (Germany). He is licensed to practice medicine in Germany and registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Ghana.
Dr. A-iyeh’s work focuses on cancer prevention, early detection systems, health workforce capacity strengthening, and reducing disparities in access to care. He brings a strategic vision that bridges European clinical standards with African healthcare realities ensuring that EGD’s interventions are both globally informed and locally grounded.
As CEO, he provides overall strategic direction, institutional leadership, and innovation oversight. He is the principal architect behind EGD’s community-centered development model, championing sustainable partnerships, evidence-based programming, and long-term systems strengthening.
Dr. Joachim Gornah, PhD, PMP, LLM.
Co-Founder & Director of Programmes
Dr. Joachim Gornah is a development strategist and certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with over 20 years of experience in NGO leadership, organizational development, public policy, procurement governance, and institutional strengthening.
He holds a PhD in NGO Studies and Community Development (University of Cape Coast), an LLM in Public Procurement Law and Policy (University of Nottingham, UK), a Postgraduate Diploma in Organizational Development, and a Bachelor’s degree in English and Linguistics (University of Ghana). He is accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA.
Dr. Gornah leads programme design, implementation oversight, donor compliance, results-based management, and stakeholder engagement across EGD’s portfolio. His expertise spans project scale-up, institutional capacity building, governance systems strengthening, and community mobilization.
He has provided consultancy and advisory services to organizations including JICA, USAID/JHPIEGO, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), District Assemblies, and private sector institutions. His leadership ensures that EGD’s programmes are strategically structured, operationally efficient, and aligned with national and global development priorities.
